The Dear Green Bothy – Call for Proposals

We are also delighted to launch The Dear Green Bothy’s call for proposals for events, activities, and projects, marking one year since Glasgow hosted COP26.

The Dear Green Bothy is a College of Arts project that supports and showcases the vital role played by arts and humanities research in understanding and addressing climate change and the ecological emergency.

Following a successful COP26 programme, the project is now entering its second phase.

Our priorities for 2022-23 are:

  • Supporting new and existing arts and humanities, and cross and interdisciplinary research partnerships around environment, sustainability and climate change research;
  • Providing an academic and public programme of in-person and online research-led seminars and events;
  • Helping to generate income, engagement and impact, for new or existing research activities;
  • Supporting research-led projects with external partners and organisations, especially with disadvantaged and marginalised communities and groups;
  • Providing a platform for student placements, programming and mentoring opportunities, within and outwith the University.

Funding and project support is now available for academic colleagues to organise activities, events and projects related to any of the above priorities. These might include, but not be restricted to:

  • public talks, lectures or panel discussions
  • research forums and symposiums
  • research development meetings or workshops
  • interactive or digital arts events
  • exhibitions and installations
  • film screenings and discussions
  • music, theatre or other performance-based events
  • artistic visits and residencies
  • other public and community-oriented activities or events
  • staff/student events or collaborations

Please note: Ideas for other kinds of activity are also most welcome.

Application Process

Please submit your completed application form to The Dear Green Bothy inbox. For any informal enquiries please contact project leads:

Any requests for funding will be assessed by the project team according to value for money and the necessity and availability of funds, as well as the extent to which the proposal speaks directly to project priorities.

The Dear Green Bothy is supported and managed by the Arts Sustainability Working Group (ASWG) in the College of Arts. To learn more about the ASWG and its activities, please contact its Chair, Professor Minty Donald:
