The Art of Gustav Metzger and Climate Activism

5 Florence Street
Glasgow
G5 0YX

Join us to mark the end of Mobbile’s journeying around Glasgow, for an informal discussion about the work of Gustav Metzger, his call for us to ‘Remember Nature’ and the relationship between art and activism.

The discussion will include contributions from artist and writer, Ross Birrell, co-director of the Gustav Metzger Foundation, Ula Dajerling, and Glasgow-based artist Kate V Robertson. Led by Dominic Paterson of the University of Glasgow and hosted in partnership with The Common Guild.

About ‘Mobbile’
As the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) takes place in Glasgow, The Common Guild is re-presenting Gustav Metzger’s sculpture, ‘Mobbile’, a modified car that collects and stores its own carbon emissions, originally made in 1970 to demonstrate the destructive and harmful effects of manmade pollutants on the natural world.
